Days. Weeks. Months. Then, maybe Years.
You first went out hopeful and ambitious. This is going to be grand! Everyone starts from there anyhow. From the safety of home, you bravely put on your “grown up” suit and walk the road of life thinking, to the top of the world!
But adulthood does not happen with bright balloons up in the air, upbeat music that makes you feel upbeat as well while you watch the younger children bounce to it with little party hearts on their heads while everybody streams in and out of the ice cream queue. You probably got your wish you made when you blew your candle. But even the best job, responsibilities for that matter, sometimes burn you out. Commitments don’t just happen. In fact, most things, even relationships, require effort. Hearts break and hurt.
Life was and never will be a fairy tale. Though there are some that seem to live out a dream. You probably knew all that but moments with that realization will caught up, and most often, they are just plain hard to get by. Time rolls so quickly and yet reality is very, very slow.
Nevertheless, even when at the edge, don’t simply brush off however little is left of the faith you once built a castle with inside you. Breathe and choose to quiet the storm. If there is one thing you need to promise to remind yourself: it is okay not to have everything figured out. Feelings are overwhelming, and there sure are people who will tell you the what shoulds. But life is not made out of any rulebook. So choose to gather yourself up and keep trying, hustling, doing. Hurdles are there for a reason, a season and a lesson.
